Quite possibly one of the best restaurants in Atlanta, Canoe in Vinings has a picturesque view and amazing food. Situated right on the banks on the Chattahoochee River, this quaint eatery boasts some of the freshest dishes in town. Canoe's Executive Chef, Carvel Grant Gould, makes sure every ingredient she uses is of the highest quality. And her conscientiousness for what goes in her menu items certainly shows. "Finding the freshest ingredients, respecting their flavors and applying solid cooking techniques in the kitchen is how [dishes] come to life," she says. Formerly the site of a devastating Civil War battle, a brewery and a swing dance place in the 1950's, Canoe is not only a magnificent restaurant, but rich with history as well.

Start your meal out with the Baby Maine Shrimp Dumplings or the Ruby Red and Golden Beet Salad. And be sure to request to hear the specials because they are always a delicious surprise. For example, the Heirloom Tomato Salad made with fresh organic tomatoes, kosher salt and cracked pepper is phenomenal. The slow roasted Carolina Rabbit is extraordinary and the George's Bank Scallops are flawless. Essentially anything you order on the menu is simply fabulous. And don't forget to sample a dessert before you leave. The fried Georgia Peach Pie is delectable and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is to die for. Make Canoe the next restaurant on your list to check out. You won't be disappointed and plan to return more than once because you definitely will. Believe me.

Atlanta offers an abundance of patio rich options for lovers in the spring and summer season, but even sitting next to the intermittent blasts from gas heaters when a brisk cold breeze is blowing isn’t always blissful. Virginia Highland offers up an alternative to the dinner date during the dark and drafty days of winter...
